Tervetuloa, City of Oulu!
We are pleased to welcome our new Cooperating Organisation from Finland to the ERYICA network. Read on to discover more about their work and the valuable contribution they bring to our community.
The roots of Oulu youth information and counselling work lie in the International Youth Year 1985. At that time, youth information activities started alongside the youth café. Now the Youth Information and Counselling Service is positioned in a multi-professional one-stop guidance center known as Byströmin Ohjaamo. Our service is organised by the City of Oulu Youth Services.
They offer information, advice, and guidance to young people and young adults under 30 from Oulu. Young people can visit their service without an appointment or schedule a meeting on any matters concerning their lives. They reach out to various environments for young people, such as youth workshops, educational institutions, and youth centers. Parents and close relatives of young people can contact them regarding matters concerning the young people. They also respond to the information needs of young people in cooperation with various networks working with youth.
In addition to on-site services, they have developed and widely use various digital services. Most of our services are available on the Nuortenoulu.fi website in Finnish. The services include, among other things, an anonymous Q&A service where young people can receive reliable, timely information on matters that concern them.
