From Adapting to Leading: ERYICA drives AI innovation with two projects
Since the keynote speech about AI at the General Assembly in Malta in 2023, ERYICA dived into the topic and chose to develop youth (info) workers' skills through two projects: AI Youth Navigator, coordinated by Jugendagentur (Germany), launched in 2024 and youthinfo.ai, coordinated by ERYICA, launched in 2025.
The first aimed at developing a platform that gathers relevant AI tools for youth workers, with video tutorials on how to use some of them. The tools have been tested and evaluated. One of the strengths of this project is the cascade training: partners have been trained on AI tools and AI regulations and have subsequently trained their peers. ERYICA had organised an online info session in June 2025 called ‘’Boosting Youth Info Work with AI: Essential Tools & Insights’’ from what the Secretariat has learned. In addition, the consortium has been organised as a monthly online AI Coffee Break, open to anyone interested, and is advertised through our Weekly Updates, which cover specific topics related to AI and youth work. The next online AI Coffee break will take place on 21st July at 13.00 CET.
A final conference, organised in Brussels on 30th September to present the project's outcomes and discuss the future of AI in the youth field, will open registration soon. Stay tuned!
This project relies on the expertise of the youth field of Jugendagentur (Germany), DOREA (Cyprus), Mladi EU (Croatia), and ERYICA, and on AI and its impact on society, in collaboration with the TUM Think Tank of the Technical University of Munich.
Meanwhile, youthinfo.ai shifts the focus from practical tools to strategic guidelines, empowering youth (info) workers to navigate the multifaceted world of AI. It’s important that professionals dealing with young people have a strong understanding of how to manage these new digital assistants. To support this, one of the project's flagship publications will focus on the ethical use of AI in youth information work (YIW), with the long-term ambition of integrating these standards into the European Youth Information Charter.
Artificial intelligence has drastically changed how young people seek information, and ERYICA wanted to stay up to date. To address this shift, the project also focuses on the evolving role of chatbots—offering clear recommendations for youth workers to ensure they continue to deliver reliable, high-quality information, even as communication media change. Additionally, the project will provide practical Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) guidelines specifically tailored for youth organisations.
Last but not least, 2027 will focus on concrete skill-building. The project will roll out specialised training in AI & Automation, alongside a webinar series designed to guide youth workers from basic AI literacy to critical thinking.
