Updated Youth Information Handbook Published in Estonia

The Education and Youth Board of Estonia has released an updated version of the Youth Information Handbook, originally published in 2020. The new edition reflects developments that have shaped the field in recent years — including the impact of the COVID-19 crisis and the war in Europe — which have further underscored the importance of accessible, high-quality youth information services.

Compared to the first edition, the updated handbook places stronger emphasis on improving the quality and impact of youth information services. It offers expanded guidance on topics such as professional competencies, counselling young people, and building trust-based relationships. The handbook also highlights the crucial role of youth information work in promoting media and information literacy among young people. The handbook will be used in the guidance and training of youth workers, as well as a teaching material in youth work studies.

The updates were developed in close cooperation with professionals from the youth information network, field experts, and lecturers from Tallinn University.

The handbook is in Estonian and available both as a PDF and as an online version, which will be continuously updated with real-life examples and best practices that illustrate the diversity of youth information work and its various approaches, formats, and methods.
