Young voices get together to celebrate the EYW in Limerick

Limerick Youth Service (member of Youth Work Ireland) recently hosted the event Our Voice, Our Europe at the Northside Youth Space in Ballynanty, bringing together young people to celebrate European Youth Week 2026 and explore this year’s theme: Solidarity and Fairness.

Through interactive workshops, creative activities, and information sessions, participants reflected on how they can contribute to building more inclusive communities. Students from St. Mary’s National School and Thomond Primary School took part in a European-themed t-shirt design workshop, while other activities included badge-making and a virtual reality youth space experience delivered by the LYS WorkAbility Project.

A key highlight of the event was the awarding of EU Youthpass certificates to young people who had participated in youth exchanges in France and North Macedonia through the Erasmus+ programme. The certificates were presented by Councillor Pádraigh Reale, who shared how his own experience in international youth work inspired his career in the youth and community sector.

“The theme of solidarity and fairness strongly reflects the values we promote every day through our youth work programmes,” said Fiona O’Grady, CEO of Limerick Youth Service. “It is fantastic to see so many young people engaging with European Youth Week and embracing the opportunities it offers.”

The event showcased the creativity, enthusiasm, and active participation of young people while highlighting the value of international mobility, non-formal learning, and youth engagement across Europe.
