Youth information minding young people’s mental health kick-off meeting

ERYICA's new mental health and emotional well-being project kicked off in Brussels on 28-29 November 2022.

The Erasmus+ KA2 project YIminds - Youth information minding young people’s mental health- focuses on building a structured dialogue between youth information workers, mental health professionals and young people. A common European framework for action will be set, so that different countries and regions can learn from each other. In addition, effective actions to address the stigma traditionally associated with mental health and well-being, which often prevents young people from asking for help, will be addressed.

Seven partners form the consortium: ERYICA (project coordinator),; the Education and Youth Board of Estonia; the Regional Youth Information and Documentation Centre of Madrid (Spain); Jugendinfos (Austria); De Ambrassade (Belgium); Cyprus Youth Council and IASIS. Eurodesk Brussels link (Belgium) and Young Scot (United Kingdom) also participate in the project as associated partners.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • enhance the mental health literacy of youth information workers;

  • provide tools to equip youth information work professionals to identify mental health distress among young people, provide first-hand support, and, when needed, refer them to specialised services;

  • foster cooperation between mental health professionals and youth information workers;

  • share good practice to learn from different experiences in different countries;

  • fight against the mental health stigma; and

  • foster a peer-to-peer approach to mental health and wellbeing.
