From youth creativity to visible impact: Teeviit Sticker Contest
Meaningful and effective youth information practices begin with involving young people not only as an audience, but also as active contributors. A great example of this is the Teeviit Sticker Contest, organised by the Estonian Education and Youth Board (Harno) in spring 2026.
The competition, held from April 13 to May 18 2026, invited young people aged 13–26 across Estonia to design sticker sheets inspired by Teeviit, Estonia’s national youth information portal, using styles and visual expressions that feel authentic to them. The aim was to give young people the opportunity to interpret Teeviit through their own creativity and contribute directly to the visual communication of the national youth information service of the same name.
Altogether, 24 designs were submitted. A Harno jury selected the overall winner, while five other jury favourites were put forward for a public vote, giving young people and the wider community another opportunity to participate in the selection process. The public vote was also promoted internationally during Harno’s ERYICA takeover, sharing the initiative with the wider European youth information community.
Most importantly, the involvement did not end with submitting ideas or voting. The selected designs will be turned into physical sticker sheets and used in Teeviit’s future communication activities. This gives young people a visible and lasting role in shaping how the service communicates with its audience and in creating materials that feel more authentic, relatable, and visually appealing to them.
The Teeviit Sticker Competition demonstrates that meaningful involvement can take many forms. By exploring creative and innovative methods of participation, youth information services can provide young people with opportunities to contribute their ideas and skills to something tangible. In this way, involvement becomes more than asking young people what they think: their contribution becomes part of the service itself.
