EU Needs Youth!

EU Needs Youth!

In January, Belgium took over the rotatory presidency of the European Union, which will see it at the helm of the EU Council for the next six months. The country is the second to take over out of the EU presidency trio of Spain, Belgium and Hungary.

Among their priorities is the empowerment and inclusion of citizens, with a special focus on youth participation. With this aim, they have created the euyouth2024 platform, which aims to advance the EU Youth Strategy, shape future EU Youth programs, and foster dialogue among Member States on youth policy and youth work.

The overarching goals include engaging young people in society and democracy, connecting them through youth work, and empowering them to take charge of their lives. The platform strives to achieve these objectives by promoting social inclusion, enhancing local youth work and democracy, and aligning European and international policy agendas on children, youth, and children's rights.
