Final Event in Brussels of the European Citizenship Academy Project
The European Citizenship Academy (ECA) is a European youth education project which aims to engage young people and youth organisations in the democratic process and society by offering training, developing exchanges and encouraging meetings, discussion and debate, to help them identify their link with the EU, its values and its democratic foundations, in a word to accompany them in becoming actively aware of their European citizenship. Our North Macedonian member, Poraka Nova, is a proud member of the consortium.
After two years of collaboration and eight youth exchanges held, one web app developed with five learning modules, ECA calls for a stronger commitment to Education to Europe (E2E) — a comprehensive approach that integrates EU education into both formal and non-formal learning environments. ECA project partners from across Europe gathered insights, tested innovative tools, and developed recommendations to make learning about the EU accessible, engaging, and action-oriented. The resulting Policy Paper highlights the urgent need to strengthen European citizenship education as a foundation for democracy, cohesion, and sustainability.
The final event of this project was held from 17–19 November in Brussels, where partners and young participants from across Europe gathered to celebrate the achievement and present the Policy paper with the recommendations.
The participants in Brussels first visited the Parlamentarium, exploring interactive exhibitions and deepening their understanding of EU institutions and citizenship.
In the evening, all countries participated in the final evaluation event, presenting their local activities, sharing project impacts, and reflecting on lessons learned from the ECA journey.
The event highlighted the value of youth cooperation, civic engagement, and intercultural learning. As the project comes to an end, the experiences, connections, and knowledge gained will continue to inspire future initiatives.
