Youth Information and Counselling in Europe in 2020, check it out now!

The role of youth information in the age of information overload and disinformation is more important than ever. This booklet is a tribute to organisations that work for upholding young people’s right to access to quality information, which promotes their autonomy and active participation in a democratic society. Youth information and counselling services make it possible for young people to find trustworthy information and make their own, informed decisions based on it. The thousands of youth information centres and their workers who answer millions of queries each year help them in this endeavour.

In the framework of the Partnership Agreement between the Council of Europe and ERYICA, the two organisations published the Youth Information and Counselling in Europe in 2020 booklet. The publication gives a thorough overview of organisations that coordinate youth information services in Europe and in certain cases provide youth information themselves. The booklet guides you through the continent and provides a snapshot as complete as possible about the state of the art of youth information and counselling in Europe in 2020. As well as a country overview and key data, for each organisation, the publication also showcases the implementation of the principles of the European Youth Information Charter and share brief good practice examples. The publication includes survey results about the current situation of youth information and counselling as well.

The publication can be read and downloaded free of charge here.

The Partnership between the Council of Europe and ERYICA aims to promote and develop European co-operation within the field of youth information and counselling. Methods include, in particular, the development of training activities and resources for professionals working in the youth sector, in line with the needs and demands expressed by member states of the Council of Europe and other countries that have signed up to the European Cultural Convention. The Partnership Agreement between the CoE and ERYICA was signed in 1997.

* Information in the booklet is available of organisations that provided data. All data refers to the pre-pandemic situation.
