Scotland’s only national awards for young people demonstrate the power of positive role models
Young Scot’s 2025 awards ceremony celebrated Scotland’s most inspiring young people in a ceremony full of heartfelt stories – none more moving than that of superstar volunteer Ellie Hodge, crowned Young Scot of the Year.
From quiet self-doubt to community champion, 15-year-old Ellie has transformed her personal challenges into a powerful force for good. Her journey inspired a standing ovation at the awards, as she was presented the overall award by Member of Scottish Parliament Ms Natalie Don-Innes.
Demonstrating compassion and initiative, Ellie, who also won the Health and Wellbeing award, learned Makaton to communicate with non-verbal students and undertook Sighted Guide training to provide further support to her peers.
As Scotland's only national event dedicated to recognising the extraordinary efforts of 11 to 26-year-olds making a difference in their communities, the Young Scot Awards are a valued chance for Young Scot to uplift and amplify their successes.
Attended by young people from every corner of Scotland, the fun-filled event pitched perfectly for young people. It awarded seven young people for their efforts in various fields, including the environment, entertainment, and sport.
