Youth Ambassadors of Sóller and Ciutadella meet on the island of Menorca
As part of the Balearic Islands Youth Ambassadors programme, 22 young ambassadors from the municipalities of Sóller (Mallorca) and Ciutadella (Menorca) met on the 7 and 8 March 2026 in Ciutadella. The meeting was organised by the Youth Information Centre and the Youth Space of the Municipality of Sóller, with the support and hosting of the Youth Point of the Municipality of Ciutadella, and aimed to continue the development process for young ambassadors, particularly regarding youth information and participation.
The activity contributed to progress in several key areas, like promoting knowledge of leisure and free-time resources for young people within the framework of the youth ambassadors programme, strengthening group cohesion among young people from different municipalities and islands through shared experiences or creating a space for interaction between young people and youth services from Sóller and Ciutadella.
Meetings like that are also important for promoting spaces for information, participation, learning, and coexistence, and for responding to the participatory proposals put forward by young people. They also facilitate access to information on local resources and on how the youth ambassadors programme is implemented in each municipality, while enhancing young people’s informational, organisational, participatory, relational and cognitive skills.
The Youth Ambassadors programme is also a way to share experiences and get to know each other. As part of the programme, the ambassadors also visited the city of Ciutadella, where they discovered its history, culture and heritage in an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation. The meeting was a highly enriching experience for both the young participants and youth workers, encouraging the organisation of more initiatives of this kind and the continued strengthening of the youth ambassadors programme at the municipal level.
