Young People Shaping Mental Health Services in Wales

ProMo Cymru, in partnership with Adferiad Recovery, has been helping young people find their voice and influence how mental health services are designed and run in Wales.

Our Minds Our Future (OMOF) is a 5-year project empowering young people to shape mental health services in the UK. In Wales, young people have been supported to be involved in youth-led campaigns and influence positive change.

A Call To Action, co-created with the young advocates from Wales, outlines their five demands for improved mental health support. Campaign efforts include engaging with government officials, hosting workshops, and organising a successful online conference.

One conference attendee shared: "I loved hearing directly from the young people. This was so powerful and engaging, and I was amazed at their confidence and eloquence on such a challenging and personal subject matter."

The project has connected young voices with influencers, fostering confidence and contributing to mental health improvements. The OMOF Welsh young advocates have found personal growth through the project, with some branching into other mental health projects, advisory board groups and further education in related fields.
