Eurodesk Mobility Advisor Certification: 26 youth information workers awarded in Italy
In recent years, Eurodesk Italy has been committed to ensuring that all the youth information workers within the national network have the necessary skills to carry out their role and, above all, that they receive the recognition they deserve. To this end, the national coordination office created the Eurodesk Mobility Advisor (EMA).
Launched as a pilot project in 2024, EMA has already certified 26 Eurodesk Advisors, who report a strong sense of appreciation, greater visibility and tangible professional recognition.
EMA represents a significant step towards a more structured, transparent and competence-based system, a model that strengthens Eurodesk Italy and increases the impact of its work for young people across the country.
EMA is the national system designed to recognise and certify the competences acquired by Eurodesk Advisors. It is based on the Eurodesk Mobility Advisor Competence Framework, developed by Eurodesk Brussels Link in 2022, which identifies 12 competences grouped into three macro-areas: Youth Information and Support, Youth Outreach and Empowerment, and Personal and Community Development.
In Italy, eight of these competencies have been selected, choosing those for which it was possible to define clear and measurable indicators.
The true innovation of EMA lies in its integration with the national training programme. Each of the eight selected competences is directly linked to the activities offered by Eurodesk Italy to its network: workshops, webinars, training for new operators, mobility tools sessions, non-formal education labs, National Network Meetings, ERYICA courses and much more.
To make this pathway concrete, Eurodesk Italy introduced an annual credit system. Every activity corresponds to a specific number of credits, assigned based on the required level of engagement and the impact. The system is flexible, fair and customisable, enabling each operator to build their own learning pathway according to their time, availability and interests.
To track their progress, operators use the EMA platform, developed by Eurodesk Italy.
Once they reach the required credits, operators receive a digital Open Badge, issued through open-badge.eu, a platform recognised by training bodies and institutions. The badge can be added to CVs, LinkedIn profiles, or used in job applications.
