Eurodesk Italy launches a social media campaign on youth mental health
Eurodesk Italy launched the social media campaign "Mental Health and Youth (Information) Work" to promote young people's mental well-being in youth work and youth information.
The campaign is inspired by the publication Mental Health Literacy in Youth Information Work, developed as part of the YIMinds project, coordinated by ERYICA (European Youth Information and Counselling Agency) and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. The guide has been translated and adapted into Italian by Eurodesk Italy to make this valuable resource accessible to youth information practitioners nationwide.
In recent years, mental health has become an increasingly important issue when working with young people. Youth (information) workers are often among the first professionals that young people turn to when facing personal, educational, social or emotional challenges. In this context, having access to reliable resources, appropriate knowledge and strong support networks is essential.
Running from July until 10 October 2026, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, the campaign features a series of 17 weekly posts published on Eurodesk Italy's Instagram account. The content explores key topics in the guide, including mental health and the Dual Continuum Model; the role of youth information workers as gatekeepers; stigma and self-stigma; and other issues relevant to supporting young people's mental well-being.
By translating and adapting the guide into Italian and developing this communication campaign, Eurodesk Italy aims to encourage its use among youth information professionals and organisations working with young people in Italy. The initiative also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of mental health within youth information services and to strengthen the capacity of professionals to recognise, respond to and appropriately refer young people experiencing mental health challenges.
The Italian version of the guide is available here.
