Estonia introduces conversation cards to strengthen quality youth information
Estonia's national youth information service, Teeviit, has introduced a new methodological tool: a set of conversation cards designed to help youth workers and other professionals engage young people aged 7-26 in meaningful discussions about topics that matter to them.
The card set, available in Estonian, covers ten key themes commonly addressed in youth information, including education, mental health, work and career, relationships, and well-being. It has been developed as a practical tool for youth workers, counsellors, and other professionals working with young people.
Each theme includes 15 cards divided into three categories: Warm-up, Discussion, and Challenge. The structure allows professionals to gradually guide young people from introductory conversations towards deeper reflection and practical action. The cards can be used in individual guidance sessions, group activities, workshops, or informal learning environments.
A distinctive feature of the cards is the integration of QR codes linking directly to reliable information sources. Young people can easily access additional information and support through articles published on the Teeviit, as well as trusted national websites covering topics such as career guidance, mental health, and sexual health.
Since the release in May, the conversation cards have already been distributed to representatives from municipalities and youth sector organisations across Estonia, supporting the wider goal of strengthening youth participation, information literacy, and access to trustworthy information.
