We’re progressively back to F2F meetings!

The MedYIa – Media under the microscope! project consortium met for the first time face-to-face in Eupen, Belgium, from 23 to 24 September to discuss the progression of the project’s outputs. This was ERYICA’s first face-to-face consortium meeting in almost 2 years!

The MedYIa project consortium is led by Jugendinfo (Belgium) with the support of ERYICA and composed by a group of francophone ERYICA members (ANIJ - Luxembourg; CIDJ - Belgium, Infor Jeunes Luxembourg - Belgium, CIDJ - France, Fédération Infor Jeunes Wallonie-Bruxelles - Belgium, Infor Jeunes Huy - Belgium). This Erasmus+ KA2 project will run until 2023 and has just finalised its first intellectual output: a survey of professional youth information workers to determine their media and information literacy (MIL) needs. With 257 responses from 16 different countries in 3 different languages, we were able to draw several conclusions.

First, there is a substantial lack of knowledge and training on MIL and MIL related activities. Moreover, there is a strong interest from youth information professionals to learn more about the topic, as  many stressed their lack of confidence and resources to engage with young people in MIL activities.

With these results, the consortium members were able to meet and set up a plan for the formulation of a MIL training targeted towards youth information professionals for the following intellectual outputs. The report on the survey will be available soon, stay posted!
