Let’s Shake Hands for Ukraine

Two million children have been forced to flee their homes and interrupt their education to ensure their safety due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. They can no longer continue their studies, moving from one place to another, and always worrying about the war.

At the Let’s Shake Hands charity organisation, they help children affected by war to adapt to their new life abroad and continue their education. They believe that one way to do this is through connecting Ukrainian kids with youngsters from different countries who can assist them in learning foreign languages and other school subjects. They are sure this will help young Ukrainians regain their belief in humanity and make friends from different parts of the world.

The Let's Shake Hands project was created at the beginning of the war by a 15-year-old Ukrainian teenager Ivan Lepskiy. From the beginning, Ivan and his team of volunteers wanted to support children who woke up one day and found out that their country had been attacked. A few months later, their amazing project brought together thousands of mentors and students worldwide. From a small idea just to help kids, it has grown into a large community where Ukrainian children can find new friends and continue their studies, where mentors feel they are being helpful, and children feel they are not forgotten.

Now the Let’s Shake Hands community helps Ukrainian children learn a foreign language of the country where they were forced to move to and adapt there. Also, our mentors help kids to solve their educational needs and integrate the acquired knowledge into a new school life. And the most important part of the project is the opportunity to communicate with peers, which brings some light into the lives of Ukrainian children and gets them away from the negative aspects of a refugee’s life.

If you want to make a huge difference in improving the lives of young people affected by the war, you can join the Let’s Shake Hands movement and become a mentor – teach, communicate, and support. You don't have to be an expert in teaching, but just be willing to help! You have the opportunity to help Ukrainian children return to a normal life.

The organisation also strives to support mentors in developing communication, time management, and creative thinking skills. They plan to organise various master classes, live streams with professionals, and many other useful events for mentors soon. Their global aim is to help not only Ukrainian refugee children but young people worldwide to get the necessary free knowledge at a convenient time.

Join the Let's Shake Hands project today and help them to make the world a better place!
