ERYICA calls for stronger support for youth information on social rights at EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership Research Symposium

Providing young people with comprehensive information about their rights is a key priority for ERYICA and its member organisations.

Across Europe, Youth Information workers help young people access reliable information on social rights, including housing, the rising cost of living, employment and essential services.

This shared commitment brought ERYICA Director Susan Flocken to the Research Symposium on young people’s access to social rights, organised by the EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership from 15 to 17 September at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg.

The Symposium brought together up to 80 participants, including academics and young researchers, policymakers and representatives of youth organisations, to explore existing knowledge on young people’s social rights from social, economic, legal and political perspectives. Its aim was to support effective policy development and youth work practice.

The Symposium also provided an opportunity for ERYICA to reaffirm its call on European institutions and Member States to strengthen their support for youth information centres and workers, recognising their crucial role in helping young people access the information they need to understand and exercise their rights.
