Youth Makerspace Larnaca: the new, pioneering program of Cyprus
The Youth Board of Cyprus proceeded in 2018 with the establishment of a new, innovative and pioneering programme called "Youth Makerspace Larnaca". Youth Makerspace Larnaca, which was launched on 10th March 2018, is based on the Makerspace standards developed by university institutions and communities abroad. It aims to combine education with technology, to promote the idea of innovation and to encourage youth entrepreneurship, by providing young people with free access to high-quality and state-of-the-art equipment for the development and implementation of their original prototypes and other business ideas.
Youth Makerspace Larnaca is the first of its kind in Cyprus and it seeks to become a place where young people can learn about technology, crafts and other creative manufacturing processes and methods, share their knowledge and skills, and apply this knowledge and skills in practice. The creative range being covered is vast!
The offered equipment includes 3D printers, laser cutters, drones, virtual reality, robotics, arduino, rasberry pi and many more. To this day more than 40 organised group visits by schools, universities and other entities took place while more than 20 workshops were organised by the Youth Makerspace Larnaca on a variety of topics such as: laser cutting, 3D printing, robot developing, arduinos, photography, animation and many more.
