The Community of Madrid joins ERYICA!
The General Directorate of Youth of the Community of Madrid (DGJ) is the public body responsible for youth services and youth policy in the region of Madrid, Spain. The Directorate assumes the promotion and coordination of youth policies in the region, launching programmes and actions, providing information, counselling and capacity-building and guaranteeing its development.
The main activities of the DGJ comprise of the Youth Information Programme, formed by training courses - either managed by the DGJ or in collaboration with local corporations and entities - to foster the values of peace, non-discrimination, responsibility and solidarity. It also offers activities aimed at enhancing culture, sport, intercultural learning and volunteering. The DGJ provides young people with facilities such as hostels and refuges, camps, rehearsal spaces and other spaces for sharing and social relationships.
To accomplish our youth information and counselling goals, we work together with the Regional Youth Information and Documentation Centre (CRIDJ), which coordinates a network of 392 Youth Information Services in the community of Madrid (31 centres, 166 offices and 195 information points). Services are located throughout the territory and provide updated information on employment, housing, training courses, scholarships, mobility and free time to 1.1 million young people aged between 14-30 who live in Madrid.
The DGJ also carries out a programme of subsidies to institutions and municipalities to develop inclusion projects of young people at risk of social exclusion or in a situation of vulnerability.
