A new handbook for frontline professionals

The Council of Europe (Children’s Rights Division) just published on 18th December 2018 the handbook: “How to convey child-friendly information to children in migration: a handbook for frontline professionals”.

Child-friendly information means information that is adapted to the child’s age and maturity, language, gender and culture (Council of Europe guidelines on Child-friendly justice). Without this information, children face additional barriers in accessing their rights and participating in the procedures that concern them.

This handbook is aimed at all professionals and volunteers working with children in migration. When referring to children, the manual refers to minors. This extremely practical handbook contains food for thought, recommendations from children to improve communication and examples of promising practice to inspire the reader.

It is now available in English on the Children’s Rights Division website here.
