The Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) is a body of the Portuguese Public Administration created by Decree-Law on September 21, 2011. IPDJ mission is to implement an integrated and decentralized policy for the areas of sport and youth.

The institute intervenes in the definition, implementation and evaluation of public sports policy, promotes the generalization of sport, supports regular and high-performance sports, providing technical, human and financial resources.

Concerning the youth field, it also intervenes in the definition, implementation and evaluation of public youth policy: support for youth associations, volunteering, the promotion of citizenship, occupation of leisure time, non-formal education, information and communication for youngsters, and geographical mobility of young people in Portugal and abroad.

The annual meeting of the Ibero-Insular working group took place in October in Pamplona, hosted by the Navarran Youth Institute.
