European Youth Information Day 2020

Our contribution for a better planet

17 April is European Youth Information Day (EYID), and every year, ERYICA launches a European Youth Information Day Campaign. The campaign aims to enhance the visibility of youth information and to raise awareness about the information needs of young people and those organisations working every day to match these needs. Members are encouraged to spread the campaign via social media channels, such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Under the slogan “Climate changes, truth does not. Stay informed, check for yourself”, ERYICA invited young people to reflect critically and encourage youth advocacy about one of the hottest topics of the new decade: the climate emergency. Implemented in 14 European languages, running in 19 countries and shared more than 850 times, we can now consider that the EYID 2020 campaign was a complete success.

The hashtag #EYID2020 was used 378 times on Instagram, while ERYICA was mentioned 667 times just on Twitter! We want to give a massive thanks to all our members and to the youth organisations and individuals that joined the campaign created their own content for it, translated it into their local languages or just dedicated some minutes to reflect on the climate emergency and decide to do their bit to change it. We have no doubt that many young people heard your voices and will take them into account for their future actions.

The campaign served as a prelude to the publication Greening Youth Information Services, created in cooperation with Eurodesk.
